IISc Bangalore | Thermax Limited | VNIT Nagpur
I am Varad Vaidya, a PhD student in Cyber-Physical Systems at the Robert Bosch Center for Cyber-Physical Systems (RBCCPS), Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru. I received my B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur (2022).
My research focuses on dynamics-invariant control for quadrotors and agile aerial robots. I develop control and learning-based policies that respect and exploit system invariants for robust, high-performance flight, with interests spanning reinforcement learning, optimal control, and autonomy. My recent work includes the paper “Dynamics-Invariant Quadrotor Control using Scale-Aware Deep Reinforcement Learning” (IROS 2025).
Previously, I worked at Thermax Limited (Pune) on biomass-based and renewable energy solutions for industrial processes. During my undergraduate studies, I contributed to IvLabs on quadrotor modeling and control, robotic manipulators, and deep reinforcement learning for robot control.
Outside research, I enjoy Hindustani classical music (Praveshika Purn), photography, badminton, and chess. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss robotics, aerospace, or potential collaborations.
